About Ben Folds Five
In 1994 Folds finally came back to Chapel Hill and formed a piano-based trio Ben Folds Five. Instead of Folds the group joined bassist Robert Sledge and drummer Darren Jessee. After a few weeks the band recorded an indie single that attracted the attention of Caroline.
